Total Bursary Scheme

Total Bursary Scheme

The six TOTAL Bursary Scheme winners

As part of our commitment to supporting our local communities, we offer the TOTAL Bursary Awards Scheme.  Each year the Scheme awards a bursary of £1,000 each to students local to our key sites who will be taking up a university course immediately after their A levels.

The schools in the scheme put forward their nominations to the TOTAL panel who then short list applications and invite a number of students for a short interview.  Successful applicants are then presented with their cheque following confirmation of their exam results and prior to starting university.

Students who are likely to be successful in obtaining a bursary will have some or all of the following characteristics:

  • A confident team player and good communicator
  • Creativity and able to demonstrate leadership and decision-making skills
  • Good IT skills and able to interpret data
  • Have a good work ethic and capable of acquiring good subject knowledge skills
  • Display an aptitude for language development

Some bursaries are reserved for those who, in the estimation of their school, have overcome difficulties to achieve their goals.  This could include for example, students with disabilities, those who have suffered illness or have experienced family bereavement or financial difficulties, or those for whom English is not their first language.

Students intending to take a gap year before entering university will not be eligible for the bursary.  Applications must be submitted to the schools in the scheme before the end of January in the year the student will be commencing university.

Application forms are available from the schools in the scheme or from:
