From developing special lubricants for racing competitors through to achieving greater fuel efficiency on our roads, Total is at the forefront of lubricant technology. Quality, durability and sustainability run through the Total DNA and nowhere is that more evident than among our automotive lubricants.
With three major international R&D labs, and our on-going investment in designing and developing the automotive lubricants of tomorrow, Total leads the sector in innovation. We have a passion for being at the forefront of technology, constantly looking for ways to:
- Reduce engine friction.
- Increase fuel efficiency.
- Reduce environmental impact.
- Improve lubricant durability.
- Create better services for our customers.
Alongside augmenting our technological leadership in automotive lubricants, we have developed close partnerships with leading manufacturers. Our longstanding relationship with the Peugeot Citroen group covers both motorsport and the development of engine oils specifically for the company’s latest engines. Working with Ford, VW Group, Volvo, BMW, Nissan and many other key players around the world, Total has created new engine oils that are better for specific engine designs, more economical, and better for the environment.
Fuel efficiency and engine performance go hand in hand, and they’re at the heart of what Total Lubricants does. By reducing friction while maintaining a tight seal between piston and cylinder, our lubricants are designed to sustain engine power and use less fuel. With our Fuel Efficiency line of motor oils, we have led the way in synthetic lubricants that save energy, protect engine parts, facilitate excellent performance and last for long periods between oil changes. Using less fuel means lower emissions, and we’ve gone even further with our Low-SAPS technology, which reduces particulates for the latest eco-friendly diesel engines.
