Total ELF and The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride celebrate classic and vintage motorcycling style
When people think of motorcycling, all too often thoughts drift to lightning-fast superbikes or brash cruisers. But away from these heavyweights are a whole host of distinguished two-wheeled classics, owned by riders just as fanatic about their machines as any Hells Angel. Since 2012, The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride has catered to these old-fashioned fanatics, and we’re proud to announce Total ELF has partnered with the rally to help exceed the event’s laudable fundraising goals.
This year the event takes place on Sunday, September 29th in more than 700 global locations– here’s everything you need to know.
What is The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride?
Founded in Sydney in 2012 by motorcycle enthusiast Mark Hawwa, TDGR was created to bring together disparate yet distinguished biker communities, while combatting stereotypes in the biking world. Rallying along country and city routes dressed in chic, retro fashions, a diverse group of male and female riders embrace this less-sung side of motorcycling every year. The bikes on show are as sublime as the suits: classic motorcycles including cafe racers, bobbers, trackers, scramblers, sidecars, classic scooters, and brats, plus many more niche styles.
As the event grew in size and reputation, TDGR decided to give the event an ethical focus. Partnering with the Movember Foundation, the world’s largest men’s health organisation, to shine a light on men’s health issues including male suicide, prostate and testicular cancer, the event grew bigger. In 2018, Movember was able to raise more than AUD $6 million thanks to DGR's profits – with fundraising in 2016, 2017 and 2018 totalling a massive AUD $14,500,000!
This year, the meeting is taking place on Sunday, September 29th in more than 700 locations – find a TDGR event in your area to get involved.
